Event Production:
10 Years of Team Rocky
I collaborated with three other planners to produce the 10 Years of Team Rocky alumni celebration at Montclair State University. I created custom tribute videos, nostalgic slideshows, and award content while contributing to décor planning, event timelines, and alumni engagement. The celebration welcomed around 50 past and present members to honor a decade of mascot history and community on July 26, 2025.
What Team Rocky is
Team Rocky is a group of student leaders who represent Montclair State University’s beloved mascot, Rocky the Red Hawk. Members serve as campus ambassadors, promote school spirit, and engage with the community through events, appearances, and creative outreach. From August 2023 to July 2024, I was a handler, a promo team member, and even Ricky, Rocky’s little cousin, which gave me a deep appreciation for the team’s legacy and impact.
Creative and Coordination Work
For the reunion, I helped name three of the evening’s awards, designed the table centerpieces, and produced a nomination video for one of our biggest honors of the night. I also created sentimental tribute videos and award graphics that played throughout the event, bringing the team’s ten-year history to life.
Recognition and Awards
At the end of the night, I was honored to receive two awards for my work with Team Rocky. The Mascot Whisperer Award goes to the handler or handlers who have shown extraordinary skill in both understanding and becoming Rocky’s eyes, ears, and voice. They are the embodiment of the mascot’s energy and spirit, whether as Rocky or as a handler. This person has a special connection with all mascots and shows it through every shift. I was recognized for my dedication as a handler and for bringing Ricky, Rocky’s little cousin, to life.
I also received the Seized the Day Award (Short Form Video), which is given to the individual or group behind the most viral short-form video that brought Team Rocky to the forefront on campus. This was for a video I created that went viral among students and alumni. These recognitions were a reminder of how much this team shaped my creativity, leadership, and connection to the Montclair community."
